Invisalign® in Scarborough, ON
For many professionals, their appearance is as important to them as their work skills. If you have crooked teeth that bother you, dentists have several ways to straighten them. Instead of wearing metal or ceramic braces for up to two years, a good option for you may be Invisalign® clear aligners.
Qualifying for Invisalign®
The improved Invisalign® clear aligners can correct several issues with teeth to straighten them or correct bite issues. However, not everyone who wants to get them are eligible to use this system to straighten their teeth or to correct:
- Cross Bites
- Open Bites
- Gaps in Teeth
To qualify for these clear aligners, our dentists at My Dentist Middlefield in Scarborough, ON will assess your teeth to discover if the aligners can correct them. While mild to moderate cases of bite issues and crooked teeth are correctable with Invisalign®, if you have severely crooked teeth, then your case may be too severe to use the aligners.
Also, younger teenagers may not qualify for them because their teeth and bones haven’t stopped growing. After the assessment, our dentist at My Dentist Middlefield will let you know if the clear plastic aligners can work to straighten your teeth.
Making the Aligners
If you are able to wear Invisalign® aligners, then one of our dentists in Scarborough, ON will create a treatment plan and discuss it with you. Then, if you decide to go ahead with the plan, they will begin the process of ordering your set of aligners.
The first step of the process is to take a 3-D digital scan of your teeth so that the aligners fit precisely. The aligners contain what Invisalign® calls SMARTTRACK® material, which is a flexible plastic that is comfortable to wear.
Then, each set of trays is customized to your specific needs. Each one fits a little tighter than the previous tray so that your teeth move into their proper position. They move your teeth approximately 1/10 mm per tray.
You will wear a set of trays for about two weeks. If you want to straighten your teeth, contact us at My dentist at Middlefield to find out if Invisalign® can help your teeth in Scarborough, ON.
