Emergency Dentistry

Prompt attention for dental emergencies.

Emergency Dental Care

Dental emergencies, often caused by accidents or severe toothaches, require urgent care. Toothaches may signal an underlying infection or injury. If you’re suffering from a toothache, contact MyDentist right away. Our team will arrange the earliest possible appointment to identify the problem and provide effective pain relief.

A knocked-out or fractured tooth is a serious dental emergency. Quick dental care is essential for saving a tooth dislodged by an accident. While on your way to our office, you can take measures to preserve the tooth—gently try to reinsert it into its socket without touching the root, place it between your gum and lip, or store it in milk. For emergencies that could be life-threatening, please go to the nearest hospital emergency room.

Preventing Dental Emergencies

Preventing dental emergencies involves proactive care and mindful habits. We advise treating your teeth with care and respect, as you have only one set of permanent teeth. Avoiding habits like nail-biting or chewing on inedible objects can significantly reduce the risk of dental issues.

Dietary choices also play a crucial role in maintaining dental health. Consuming hard or sticky candies and ice can cause wear and tear, potentially loosening teeth. It’s best to avoid certain foods requiring excessive chewing effort.

Athletes and children participating in sports should always wear protective mouthguards during physical activities. Custom-fitted mouthguards, available at our office, offer superior protection compared to store-bought options. Regular dental check-ups are essential to ensure your mouthguard fits correctly, as even minor teeth shifts can affect its effectiveness.

If you experience discomfort with a store-bought sports mouthguard, our dentists can create a custom-fit option for enhanced comfort and protection. We recommend bringing your mouthguard to each dental appointment for necessary adjustments.

By following these preventive measures, you can minimize dental visits and expenses. While MyDentist is here to assist you during emergencies, we prioritize helping you avoid them altogether.
